  1. Went to the Pavillion today to take photos of my set space (lucullus room) and get the measurements. I was surprised at how large the room was but I think its a good thing as i have alot to put the the space.

  2. In the first production meeting in feb we made decisions on what area of the set we wanted to design. I chose the Lucullus room so that I could supervise and do a photoshoot for the show poster.
We discussed having having an influence of Way of the Worlds in my space and create an idealistic backstage dressing room set up.
With the poster they want me to use one of the 3rd yr carnival costumes and my inspiration is the Dracula photo.

  3. Met with Tim Wall on tues 9/03 to discuss the poster. There was a mix up with what my role was as he thought I was designing the whole programme. Adele has now spoken to the marketing team and it cleared up. I am doing the photoshoot for the promotional poster and it may or may not be used in the programme.

  4. E-mailed Sean from acting about Way of the Worlds set and he said they have videos of the production that I am going to watch. He also mentioned that my space was an ante chamber meaning it sets the scene for the main production. This was very helpful for my development and i am pleased that i spoke to him as i now have a more defined brief for the set space.

  5. I had another production meeting today discussing the set design for each section and the production as a whole. The theme for the whole show is VICTORIAN GOTHIC. This was very helpful as now we can work a a team to create a production that fits together and has a recurring theme.
I showed the director Sean my ground plan of the Lucullus room and it was very useful for visualizing what we could achieve in the space.
We discussed having four actors in front of the large mirrors these would be the costume students wearing the Alice costumes and possibly a few others.
An MC will be used to give announcements to the audience and guide them through the whole production.
They want to have space to show students designs which i am happy with as i think its important to show the 3rd year designs.
Sean wanted more of a free path for the audience to walk on rather than a shrap zig zag which is good.
Another idea was to totally block off the exit so the audience have no idea where the room ends and then reveal the door with bulbs all around as a finale before they exit.

  6. After the production meeting i spoke to Adele andSean about the poster and they liked the idea of using the shadows of the dress cast by strong lighting.
They said to think about the pose, hair, cropping the image, jumping(however the dress is restricting so i think movement maybe out of the question), and lighting.
Once i have taken the photos on Monday 22nd I will show Sean some thumbnails of my favorite images and discuss what to do next.
